Aliens: CM Review
So I played a game, a game that was a direct sequel to one of my favourite films of all time. Was I excited I hear you ask? Yup. So let's get down to the nitty gritty.
This game was, for an Aliens fan, amazing! The sound effects alone made this game worth playing, the beeping of the motion tracker sent chills down my spine. The pulse rifles, oh the pulse rifles, just made me tingly. Everything felt like the movie, from the opening 'till near the end, oh we will get to the end later. Although the gameplay was repetitive and story did get a little bland at points, they threw enough little twists and turns in there to make me happy enough |

How was the gameplay repetitive? Well endless corridor shooting and people? Why the hell did we have to fight people? I wanted a game to fight aliens and only aliens. (my main gripe with this game!) Although it worked well as a decent plot device to drive the story. The ending did annoy me alot it was lame and abrupt and didn't really grip me. Why do games developers continually push out titles with terrible endings? I would love to know. The aliens themselves felt a little underpowered. They could have had them move around more and be alot tougher to kill. They just didn't live up to the perfect weapon that we all have come to love. The Wey-Yu guys were just cover based plot devices. They sucked!! |
Unfortunately the graphics were lacking, but the environments looked amazing, except up close, but ignore that and you get to relive many areas from the films that you know and love. The Engineer's ship, Hadley's Hope and The Sulaco. Was breathtaking sometimes, but not enough. This game had alot to live up to, as we had been waiting for it for some time. It had the pre-made setting, amazing enemies and the perfect soundtrack. As a member of the franchise it is definitely lacking but I thoroughly enjoyed this game, that may be just as a giant Alien fan boy I was mostly blinded by the franchise, mostly. Meh who cares. If you are a fan of the the franchise play this game you will enjoy the ride. If you aren’t it may be wise to give it a quick bash first (hee hee hee “quick bash”) |
I give this game a decent 7 out of 10
